“Only Connect!” Symposium 2025

We are delighted to share that we are coming together for the third time, in-person, for two days of talks and workshops celebrating the power of intergenerational and inclusive practice and research to unite communities.

The symposium will focus on methods of empowering both people with dementia and young people. We will explore the connections and parallels within intergenerational practice between art and nature, with the climate crisis as a key consideration.

Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity for like-minded individuals across sectors (and the globe) to share ideas, inspire one another, and build a supportive community.

This special event is hosted on the stunning west coast of Cornwall at Newlyn Art Gallery and The Exchange, with a coach expedition to Potager Garden for a magical evening meal. The symposium is open to all – whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting to explore the possibilities of intergenerational practice. Get ready to connect, make, talk, wonder and look beyond the horizon to what is possible.

Earlybird tickets are now LIVE! Get them fast as there is a limited number avaliable.

“Only Connect!” Conference 2022

“Relationship building is conscious, not accidental”

Susan Langford, Magic Me

“You need the brain, but leave the thinking to the heart”

Ronald Amanze, A Box of Smiles

We came together to connect on a deeper level. To be vulnerable and engage in new creative approaches to these complex community challenges.

Compounded by living our lives in and out of lockdowns, with services stretched like never before and the postcode lottery being an increasing reality, we reflected on these last three years, celebrating the powe of creativity to connect, rejuvenate, empower and give voice to those who need it most at a time when they need it most.

This three day conference involved and connected people at all levels of the system to the work one another are doing. We invited all delegates into this process, so everyone could truly understand through their own participation and connection why they are essential to the fabric and future of our society.

We believe that moments like these are when systemic change can happen and how we can, more than ever, be in a position to scale up this essential, important and groundbreaking work.

“Only Connect!” Symposium 2019

“I didn’t know that I could die of lonelines until I almost did”

Trevor Synge Perrin, Ambassador for Sensory Trust
In 2019 we brought together people from across the system to create a unique space for connection and to challenge the barriers that face our communities. With a focus on intergenerational practic and research, the conference gave people living with dementia, care commissioners, creative practitioners, young people, national organisations, international representatives of intergenerational projects the opportunity to connect, interrogate and celebrate creative solutions to widespread disconnection and isolation across our communities.
